Jabba's Palace
In terms of part-count, this is my largest project and the only one based on a preexisting concept. Jabba's Palace, however, is my favorite location in all of Star Wars, so I felt that this level of intricacy was warranted.
Notice the steps and the door, including the droid doorman.
The two knobs at the side control the Rancor pit trap door and the Rancor's gate respectively.
The detail in the mountainside takes up a great amount of the parts.
The roof went through many iterations and is composed of hundreds, perhaps thousands of plates. It rests on the palace without studs, but it keys into place.
This is a top down angle of the first interior, revealed when the roof is removed.
Here you can see that the entire palace opens on hinges, revealing two major levels.
This is, of course, Jabba's throne, which is more embellished than the official set versions. Notice Rotta.
This gives you a view of the roasting spit behind the Hutt, a detail that can be seen in Return of the Jedi.
This shows frozen Han Solo, some crates, and a mounted head, possibly a Tauntaun.
This image shows the slim area behind Jabba which is mainly used for storage.
Here is the one brick-built character I designed for the palace: Ephant Mon, my favorite Jabba denizen.
Mon is fully detailed and articulated, to include his jaw.
This picture shows Mon's tail and the rest of his cloak.
Here you can see Mon's staff and his face from a different angle. I am very proud with how this turned out.
On this side, there are assorted aliens and a drink table. Note the space in the floor that leads to the stairs.
This image includes more famous Jabba imagery, such as the Rebo Band, which is relegated to only Max, Boba Fett, Oola, Ree Yees, IG-88, 4-LOM, Dengar, and of course Bib Fortuna. Mando slipped in there too.
And here is the Rancor pit, sans monster. I tried to detail the floor as much as I thought necessary.
Here the creature is. The gate is attached to a tank track that winds up when a knob is turned.
This shows the other side of the lower level.
This is Jabba's kitchen and store room. Every crate has some kind of surprise in it, and there is an oven next to the pilfering Gamorrean.
Malakili is in this picture, as well as the stairs, and a glimpse of the prison.
These are the sad contents of the prison block.
Here is the droid dungeon, fronted by EV-9D9 and 8D8.
Here is another view of the upper floor, just with the Rancor trap door down. As should be obvious, this is a complex model that took several weeks to complete, but I am generally happy with the final result.
